We are pleased to share that we have partnered with The Electric Vehicle Association Scotland to encourage, facilitate and support hotels get ready for EV drivers as EV ownership rapidly expands.

We begin a search for the best EV Hotels in Scotland, hotels that have EV charging points and have gone above and beyond to make the experience of guests driving EV cars an easy and enjoyable one.

EVA Scotland recognises the important contribution that the hospitality sector makes not only to the successful transition to all electric transportation but also to the future expansion of tourism and travel industries and the overall economy of Scotland.

EVA Scotland’s Chief Operating Officer, Laura Robinson said: “Recently, we issued a call for Scotland’s hospitality industry to go that extra mile and see the installation of EV charge points as an opportunity to boost business through the provision of this essential facility for guests and visitors.”

EVAS also launched a new feature on our website that specifically focuses on those hospitality venues, including hotels, restaurants and holiday venues the length and breadth of the country who see that making the necessary investments to meet the rapidly growing number of electric vehicle owners, is vital to secure future business opportunities. This feature aims to inform EVAS members and the wider EV population of the charging facilities available at various locations around the country.

Laura Robinson continued: “Scotland has always been a ‘go to’ destination  for car drivers and their families and even more so now that pandemic restrictions have eased. With electric vehicle sales rising at a tremendous rate – a 75% increase (year-on-year) in March - and with one in three cars on UK roads expected to be electric by 2025, hospitality venues are gearing up and installing more EV charge point facilities for guests and visitors… this must continue at pace.

“We are delighted to welcome Hotel News Scotland to assist in the development and promotion this initiative through its wealth of experience in a wide rage of hospitality sectors.”

Hotels News Scotland founder and Editor, Renata Fernandes will advise and assist EVA Scotland in a range of initiatives that will culminate in a major awards presentation event in September 2023 which will focus on recognising and honour those in Scotland’s hospitality sectors who have made significant contributions towards the transition to all electric transportation.

She said: “Back in 2018 I began a solo campaign with the support of TESLA UK, to get as many hotels as possible to install EV charging points. The campaign resulted in this news piece published on Hotel News Scotland. My objective was and still is to inspire hospitality professionals across the country to invest in the essential facilities expected in today’s changing holiday environment. There has never been such an important time in the development of the industry in looking forward and offering one of the most important elements that will be expected by visitors and guest in the years ahead."

The award categories will be:
* Scottish EV Hotel / B&B / Restaurant of the Year (three individual awards)
* Scottish EV Self Caterer of the Year
* Scottish EV Holiday Park of the Year
* Scottish EV Tourist Attraction / Venue of the Year
