From The Magic of The Forest to The Winter Castle: Indulge in a selection of festive sweet treats with The ‘Christmas at the Caledonian’ Afternoon Tea
Guests can spend a winter afternoon enjoying a delectable Festive Afternoon Tea in the cosy yet magical Peacock Alley. Hero dishes on the savoury menu include a Christmas turkey, stuffing and cranberry-filled sandwich, a pigs in blanket sausage roll with splendidly sweet bacon jam, and an ever-so-tempting stilton and leek tart. Those with a sweet tooth will be delighted by the delicious pastry selection available, including The Magic of the Forest, a nougat candy studded with roasted pistachios and almonds; The Winter Castle, a vanilla and tonka bean creme, apple tatin and pecan streusel crunch; and The Scottish Delight, a bergamot, toasted pumpkin seed praline and milk chocolate financier, along with a selection of buttermilk, white chocolate and blackcurrant scones, served with festive fruit jam and clotted cream.
The ‘Christmas at the Caledonian’ Afternoon Tea is available from 1st December- 4th January. Priced at £65 per adult including a festive welcome cocktail or £30 per child.
Celebrate the season with a festive menu at Grazing by Mark Greenaway
The perfect place to celebrate indulgent festive food and fun times, Grazing by Mark Greenaway will be offering a selection of exquisite set menus designed for each occasion, with one-off menus for Christmas Day, Hogmanay and New Year’s Day, along with a festive groups menu for larger groups throughout December.
The Christmas Day menu offers five courses with the option of an additional wine pairings menu. Hero dishes include halibut tartare with dashi and leaf tuile; confit duck leg terrine with a smoked cheddar doughnut and mulled wine pickled shallots; a shellfish consommé with scallops, lobster and saffron; and, of course, a Christmas turkey with all the trimmings. For dessert, guests can tuck into a festive pudding parfait, before a mince pie or two to finish.
With an ethos focused on provenance and produce, award-winning chef Mark Greenaway has chosen to work with the best Scottish and English producers throughout the year, meaning that every single ingredient is at its peak seasonal best.
Relax and recharge with a holiday glow at Waldorf Astoria Spa
This holiday season, Waldorf Astoria Spa has launched two brand-new rejuvenating packages designed to help guests relax, recharge and start the new year fresh. Guests have the option of choosing from A festive Touch of Luxury or Winter Sleep.
A Festive Touch of Luxury includes either the Caledonian Chic Full Body Massage or the Signature 111SKIN Harley Street Facial, and one hour use of the spa’s luxurious leisure facilities, followed by an indulgent ‘Christmas at The Caledonian’ Afternoon Tea and a festive cocktail in Peacock Alley.
The second package, Winter Sleep, is all about allowing the mind and body to fully relax, and allowing yourself time to hibernate over the winter. The package includes an unwinding 90-minute Sleep Ritual, followed by a cup of soothing Sleep Tea in the relaxation room, along with complimentary use of the spa's swimming pool, sauna, steam room and two-floor gym.
Fine-dining with a view of Edinburgh Castle at Dean Banks at The Pompadour
With its spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle, Dean Banks at The Pompadour is the perfect spot to celebrate the festive season with loved ones. As well as a classic festive set menu, the fine-dining restaurant will also be offering a Hogmanay menu, with separate vegan menus available, and an à la carte option. Regardless of the menu, each guest will have a sensory experience like no other, which is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression.
Available throughout the whole month of December, highlights of the classic festive set menu include a pan-roasted rose veal sweetbread with fermented squash ox tongue, and a steamed north sea cod with Thai red duxelle, coconut and steamed basil. Guests can also have the option of upgrading to the Warrendale wagyu, a braised koji aged belted galloway beef with alliums and bone marrow; a smoked St. Andrews bay lobster with mirin butter and dulse; before tucking into a delightful frozen sticky toffee pudding.

Ring in the New Year at Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian’s Hogmanay Ball
Guests are invited to ring in 2023 with an exquisite evening at Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh- The Caledonian’s magical Hogmanay Ball. Hosted in the hotels spectacular Castle Suite, guests can expect an evening of Scottish entertainment with traditional dancing, bagpiping and a selection of popular Scottish canapés including Macween’s haggis with neeps and tatties, and a Scottish fillet steak with truffle celeriac gallet, rainbow carrots, spinach and burgundy jus, paired with hand-selected drinks throughout the night.
When the clock strikes midnight, guests can raise a Champagne toast to the exciting new year ahead, whilst enjoying traditional Scottish stovies (a traditional dish made of potatoes, onions and leftover roast meat with beef dripping), before dancing the night away with live entertainment.
