The hotel is widely acclaimed for its exceptional service, and with Hotel Manager of the year 2017 on its credits, the team show no signs stopping with an Acorn Award and prestigious Les Clefs d’Or.
Emma Kirk, Rooms Division Manager at Blythswood Square Hotel, was awarded an Acorn Award and made such an impression she has been invited to judge on the panel for the 2019 award nominees.
Affectionately known as the 30 under 30, the Acorn Awards celebrate the top rising talent in hospitality within Great Birtain, with hotels nominating thousands of candidates a year.
Emma Kirk said: “I can’t believe I’m the first person at Blythswood Square Hotel to have won an Acorn Award. It’s such an honour to be recognised as one of the top 30 under 30 talent across the UK. I feel so lucky to have won this award whilst working alongside my favourite team.”
Courtney Early, Reception Supervisor at Blythswood Square Hotel said: “Emma is like a big sister, I’ve always looked up to her talent. She’s always on the ball and knows exactly what to do. She’s a huge asset to the team, and I really see myself following in her footsteps at the Blythswood.”
Courtney, 21, began her career at The Blythswood as an apprentice through AHS Scotland (Apprenticeships in Hospitality, Scotland) in 2014 and has progressed through the ranks, taking the Rising Star title at the national Scottish Hotel Awards in 2018.
Courtney added: “I started working at the hotel straight from school and I’m so happy with what I’ve managed to achieve. I’ve progressed from apprentice, to receptionist and to senior receptionist this year. Winning the award shows what I can ahieve with hard work.”
David Nellany, Senior Concierge at The Blythswood Square Hotel, is also adding to the Blythswood’s winning streak by receiving his Clefs d’Or, more commly known as the Golden Keys, after nine years in the business at Blythswood Square hotel.
David said: “I wear my Golden Keys with great pride. The testing process is long, it involves nominations, interviews and panel meetings, so it’s great that my skill and genuine love for the job has been acknowledged by others.”
David is the first ever concierge at Blythswood Hotel to be awarded Golden Keys since the hotel opened as part of the Town House collection in 2009.
Emma Kirk, said: “David is the face of Blythswood. He is the first person you meet at the door on your arrival and the last person you remember as you depart the hotel."
She added: “He is an irreplaceable asset to the hotel. He is the life and soul of the lobby and guest never forget him, nor does he forget them.”
Murray Thomson, General Manager at Blythswood Square added: “My favourite thing about The Blythswood Square Hotel is the guests who visit and the team who make it all possible, every day.”
“This year we are celebrating our 10th year anniversary at Blythswood Square with some of the best talent the hotel and industry has seen.”
