The super-stylish hotel with staggering views over the Clyde, SEC, Hydro and Armadillo from its famed RED Sky Bar, picked up the Group Hotel Of The Year trophy from the CIS Excellence Awards 2021.
Curator Graham Chalmers was understandably thrilled to have scooped such a title in such a challenging year.
“We at Radisson RED are of course over the moon with our big win – this is a really special award, coming as it does in one of the most challenging times our industry has ever faced.
“I feel we have excelled in reinventing ourselves over the last year and moving with the times to evolve and stay ahead of the curve, creating initiatives such as our live streams which raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities, and more recently our #bekindtohospitality campaign urging the public to respect and be nice to staff in returning hospitality outlets of all natures.
“Our owners have been incredibly supportive through the entire crisis so we have to thank them first and foremost, as well as our incREDible family of guests who are there for us through thick and thin.
“This award is for the whole team here – this shows them all the anxiety and hard work has been worth it. And that includes our extended family such as our resident DJs Michael Kilkie and Jon Mancini.”
According to a CIS release, “The Coronavirus crisis meant that for the 2020 awards entrants were judged on performance before or soon after the onset of the crisis, and how they coped during it”.
Radisson RED Glasgow was joint winner of the Group Hotel of the Year Award with Fairmont St Andrews.
Chair of the CIS Advisory Board, Andrea Nicholas, commented:
“The shared awards show not only how difficult it was to pick a winner from a high-class field but also what a magnificent wide range of top class hospitality we have in Scotland.”
