Now the man who made the brand, Mark Doyle, is back at the helm and the REAL Hed Kandi is back – and headed for Radisson RED Glasgow for an epic Friday night in the perfect venue, overlooking the city lights.
Mark is thrilled to be returning to the city responsible for some of the biggest and best nights in HK history – and to getting his hands on such a unique venue in the RED Sky Bar.
Mark said: “I simply can’t wait, I returned to Hed Kandi at the end of 2019 after curating the 20th Anniversary shows, we didn’t make it to Glasgow in 2019 and it was firmly on my list for 2020 when COVID hit. We’ve been working on a suitable location for months and I’m so happy we’ve found the perfect place for our return for the first time since 2005, with me on board.
“I find that Hed Kandi adapts easily from a sweaty train archway to a luxurious beach club but if I’m honest our best parties our the smaller “boutique” gigs in fabulous spaces. The RED Sky Bar is certainly fabulous, it ticks all those boxes and it’s a chance to get up close and personal with everything we do. The added bonus of being up in the sky is that we are that little bit closer to Disco Heaven!”
Radisson RED Sky Bar has become the coolest clubbing venue in Scotland, showcasing events from Skyline, Melting Pot, Streetrave. Guilty Pleasures, Riverside Festival, Electric Dreams and many more.
The event on Friday July 22 will see Mark joined by a live performance from Soraya, Mark Rowell and more, with live sax from Emma and full Hed Kandi production.
This incredible event runs from 7pm to 1am in the stunning RED Sky Bar overlooking the city, bringing sensational music and production to the most unique club venue in Scotland.
Mark is fully expecting a sold-out throwback to the glory days of clubbing’s most glamorous brand, in possibly the most spectacular venue they have ever visited. And he has no doubt why Hed Kandi has always worked so well in Glasgow…
“It’s quite simply the people, Hed Kandi always worked best where there was a true party vibe and a willingness to go out and have a good time. Glasgow has more than enough of that. We also relied on local promoters to connect us with the right people and local legend Ricky Magowan was a huge part of Kandi’s success in the early days. A fun Hed Kandi fact is that Glasgow holds the record for Team Kandi members missing in action, either they never reappeared after their DJ set or they missed their flight home. It’s an interesting statistic as we‘ve had residencies in Ibiza and some much dodgier far flung places. I would like to point out we got them all home safely (eventually), they had just been enjoying themselves too much.”
