The Ayrshire hotel shut down with immediate effect to enact refurbishments that had been scheduled for later that year.
The seafront hotel located on Brisbane Street closed so suddenly it was raised in the local community council as a point of interest with one Councillor saying she knew of people that had their bookings cancelled.
A statement from the Queens Hotel said: "The hotel is closed for a full refurbishment and will be open in the new year.
"The closure was more sudden than expected because we had a hot water issue, and we had to bring forward the refurbishment."
The hotel is famous for its 'Bygone Era' charm akin to Rothesay when many families from Glasgow would visit the seashide town during the Glasgow Fair. It also is of note that during the 1970's the hotel would play host to the Scottish National Football Team on many an occasion.
At the time of writing the Queens Hotel website is up and running with no apparent notice of the closure.
