Keep on walking! To celebrate their new partnership with disability charity Scope, Jurys Inn hotel staff across the country have walked an astonishing 26 million steps in just one month, raising £50,000 for deserving causes.
Smashing the step challenge was Jurys Inn Cardiff, where staff stepped up the most out of all 36 Jurys Inn locations, recording 4 million steps in one month – with the majority of the hotel’s staff hitting their target of 10,000 steps a day, every day, for a month. Jurys Inn Derby and Jurys Inn Leeds closely followed with their fundraising efforts, reaching 3 million steps and 2.5 million steps respectively.
To further demonstrate just how active hotel roles can be, Jurys Inn commissioned research into which jobs the public perceive to be the most demanding step-wise. Hospitality workers such as wait staff, housekeeping, front-of house and general management all ranked highly.
Other careers considered to be highly-physical included, nursing (49%), which took the top spot, followed by restaurant workers (37%). Farming (28%) and Tradesman (Builders 22%, Electricians 4% and Plumbers 4%) also scored highly in the nationwide poll.
