Accor and South American Hotel Group Bourbon launched an interesting proposal: To keep their bedrooms occupied after lockdown while tourists are reluctant to travel, they are offering their hotel bedrooms as day offices for small teams.
Many large corporations have divided their staff into several teams before and during lockdown as a way to facilitate social distancing and prevent their entire workforce from being affected by COVID-19. Many of these companies still feel meeting face to face regularly is necessary and now need to find solutions to have different members of their teams meeting and working from different locations after lockdown.
This could be an important opportunity for hotels. A number of hotels in Scotland have offered their public rooms as co-working spaces to locals and visitors.
Hiring an office for the day can be costly depending on the number of people attending the meeting and F&B options are usually a disappointment: You will find basic sandwiches and pastries available, not much else.
Depending on the size of your bedrooms and on the layout of your furniture, could a table and a few chairs bring some extra revenue for you?
Accor thinks so. Locals who are desperately looking for a comfortable and quiet place to get their job done safely can book a room for up to eight hours between 8:00 - 20:00.
