Gleneagles, Perthshire’s renowned hotel and country estate, has opened the doors to its newly refreshed all-day restaurant, The Birnam.

Introducing a brand-new menu offering, and a rejuvenation of the interior décor, the new-look Birnam is the perfect place to while away afternoons with long, leisurely lunches, or spend laidback evenings accompanied by delightful dinners.


A relaxed Italian American grill, The Birnam is where the finest cuts are seared, slow cooked and grilled to perfection over silver birch charcoal in Gleneagles’ custom-built open fire pit. Think of Aberdeen Angus Cote De Boeuf, Highland Wagyu sourced from the surrounding Ochil Hills, Scottish Borders lamb, whole turbot to share or fire-baked Scottish salmon, to name but a few. A lighter option for a casual lunch or dinner - with an added touch of Birnam flare ­- the whole chicken Caesar salad to share is freshly prepared and served at the table.




Head Chef Stefano Furci, born and raised in Sicily, brings his ethos of using the finest ingredients and the simplicity of Italian cooking to the menu with a modern-day twist. Guests can choose from a selection of delicious pasta dishes which take inspiration from classical Italian cooking, whilst applying innovative new flavours and techniques, like crab spaghetti with chilli and lime, the ever-popular rigatoni alla vodka, baked carbonara tagliolini with bacon and buffalo mozzarella, and a truly decadent coal-roasted Scottish lobster tagliatelle for two to share.




All tastes are catered for, with delicious vegan and vegetarian dishes to enjoy, like slow-roasted aubergine or pistachio-glazed smoked cauliflower. A line up of tempting snacks, starters, side dishes and desserts complete the revived Birnam menu, as well as a selection of light bites.




The Birnam’s bright, light and airy feel, complimented by an abundance of greenery, offers a contemporary yet casual brasserie during the day, which transitions into a warm and bustling spot to settle into for the evening.




Open to both hotel guests and non-residents for dinner daily, from 5-9:30pm, and lunch from 12-2pm Friday to Sunday, tables at The Birnam can be booked by calling 01764 290 017.
