On the final countdown to opening in spring 2022, Gleneagles Townhouse has appointed two ‘Wellness Managers’ to lead the pioneering wellness offering of its 33-bedroom hotel and members’ club on St Andrew Square, Edinburgh.

The duo has partnered with the team at Gleneagles Townhouse to help develop and curate a truly unique offering for members and guests.

Emma Fraser and Tessa Tweedie, both from Edinburgh, will be bringing a wealth of experience and a unique range of skills to their roles as Wellness Managers for The Strong Rooms – the Townhouse’s state-of-the-art gym, treatments and therapies space housed in what used to be the bank’s former vault.

With combined backgrounds in advanced yoga instruction, beauty and spa trained therapy, personal training and strength coaching with high performance athletes like the Scottish Rugby Team, Emma and Tessa’s expansive careers have placed them in good stead for curating a broad and progressive wellness concept at Gleneagles Townhouse.

Encompassing the ethos that wellness goes way beyond a traditional fitness class, Emma and Tessa will be leading a team of ‘Wellness Educators’; a ‘best of the best’ line up of talented individuals from multiple disciplines including former Olympic competitors, Royal Ballet Trained Dancers and professional athletes.

Alongside this experienced team, the duo will create a carefully considered proposition, ensuring Townhouse members and hotel residents have a truly holistic wellness offering.

Whether it’s helping clients to understand their own capabilities in terms of fitness, or creating a positive attitude to mental health through daily mindfulness, Emma and Tessa will be overseeing a schedule of classes from yoga to functional fitness, running clubs, indoor and outdoor cycle, Reformer Pilates and dance.

Colin Farndon, Director of Leisure for Gleneagles Townhouse, said: “The intention for The Strong Rooms and our wider wellness offering was not only to bring our successful spa offering from Gleneagles to the city, but to also create an all-encompassing, hugely progressive, first-of-its-kind wellness experience curated by local, best-in-class practitioners.

“Throughout the process, we’ve been very eager to take advantage of Edinburgh’s reputation as a leading wellbeing city - both in terms of nourishing local talent as well as making the most of the city’s enviable proximity to nature to create our programme of fitness and wellbeing experiences both within the Townhouse itself as well as within the city’s surrounds.

“We’ll also be incorporating pioneering technology into The Strong Rooms experience to combine cutting edge design with connection to nature to deliver the best member wellness experience possible.”

Based at 39 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh, originally home to the British Linen Company before later becoming the Bank of Scotland, this historic building is being reimagined to become Gleneagles Townhouse; a 33-bedroom hotel, all-day restaurant, rooftop bar, wellness space and member’s club.
