The owners of Dornoch Castle Hotel are appealing to former guests and members of the public to "pay it forward" by helping them raise enough money to reopen and secure many jobs.

Dornoch Castle Hotel's Covid19 Crowdfund would enable the hotel to cover costs whilst waiting for the Government backed CBLIS and Wages Furlough schemes to kick in.

The Crowdfunding page reads:

"The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for millions of British small businesses, which is going to make it extremely challenging for many businesses to survive. The longer we wait for the CBLIS and Wages Furlough schemes the harder it will be to start up again. We are told that the Furlough scheme, for example, will not be ready until June due to huge demand.

The lockdown, for this family run business, could not come at a worse time; the end of the winter and just before we start our busy trading period, missing key dates such as Mothers' Day and the Easter weekend.

We don't qualify for the Rates Support Grant. The insurers don't intend to pay out on this solid claim. The Furlough wages scheme is taking far longer than the Government anticipated. Government backed CBILS loan system is completely clogged up with less than 1% of applications being approved as of 10th April.

So lets get positive!

We have a great family-run hotel including one of the World's Best Whisky Bars-with countless awards, one of the best dining venues in the North of Scotland in GrantMacNicol@DornochCastle and popular specialist Whisky tastings and Private Dining in our Ancient Vault.

We have the famous Thompson Bros organic Dornoch Distillery in the garden under the personal ownership of Simon and Phil still doing well and now producing sanitiser for the local community and doing a great job through all this.

We have a great and long-serving team of 22 people, many of whom have been with us from the beginning and are like family.

Some have made the hotel their life and career such as Heather, Danni, Laura, Matt and Grant - all very familiar faces to our customers. We had a fantastic summer season coming up with record bookings and events - which has now disappeared.

So to help us get through this period of uncertainty we would ask you to support us by buying PAY IT FORWARD VOUCHERS with great value discounts, to use any time after we re-open.

For any voucher that you buy you will receive an extra 20% as a way of thank you from us. Use against any of our services for example book a room, a dinner, host a wedding, or a private dining experience, pop in for a few meals, buy a few drams, host a whisky tasting or buy a few bottles, the choice is yours.

Colin, Ros, Phil, Simon, Mathew and all the great team at Dornoch Castle."
