The couple were meant to take over the leasehold business on 1st November 2019 on a 20 year lease from Legacy Property, part of the Fusion Group, headed up by hospitality entrepreneur Alex McKie, but because of technical legal difficulties, the landlords were not able to honour the agreement.
Seal (51) has enjoyed a successful career in hospitality, having previously been the General Manager at Ballathie House Hotel in Perthshire. Prior to that, he worked at Hart Hotels and completed an 11 year stint with Macdonald Hotels. Both Andrew and Adele are well established within the local community, with a wealth of family and connections across Dunblane and the wider area.
He commented:
“It is with very heavy hearts that Adele and I are announcing our departure from Old Churches House. We have felt privileged to have the opportunity to work in the heart of a community we have lived in for so many years. Sadly, and through no fault of ours, the landlords difficulties arising with the terms they offered, leave us unable to fulfil the vision we had for this popular, well established venue. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff, our customers and the local community for supporting Old Churches House and Chimes House over the past 12 months.”
Alex McKie, the owner and founder of The Fusion Group of Companies said:
“It’s been a pleasure to work with Andrew and Adele over the past 12 months and I sincerely wish them both every success in the future.”
After initially acquiring the property in 2013, McKie invested heavily in a comprehensive property development programme, creating a welcoming and delightful 11 bedroomed hotel, as well as a popular restaurant, meeting spaces and a ‘secret chapel’. This was followed by the acquisition and refit of the nearby four bedroomed Chimes House Bed and Breakfast in 2016, which is now also part of the Old Churches House Hotel portfolio.
Linsey Scott, Chef Proprietor of Linlithgow-based Mason Belles Kitchen will take over the property at the beginning of November to commence a new chapter for the venue.
