The Balmoral Hotel Is Voted City Hotel Of The Year

For over a century, The Balmoral has found a home at Edinburgh’s most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street. As the hotel that marked the beginning of Sir Rocco’s distinguished portfolio in 1997, The Balmoral continues to innovate today with a recent multimillion-pound refurbishment and the launch of its new restaurant, Brasserie Prince by Alain Roux to cement the accolade of City Hotel of the Year.

Food & Travel magazine is the world’s leading gastronomic tourism title and the awards, which were hosted at The Royal Automobile Club on Pall Mall in London, celebrate the very best of UK hospitality.

In summer 2017, The Balmoral unveiled its new look following a three-month modernisation project led by Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels’ Director of Building & Design, and sister to Sir Rocco Forte. In addition, Brasserie Prince by Alain Roux a collaboration with Alain Roux, Chef Patron of The Waterside Inn, Bray-on-Thames, and his father Michel Roux, O.B.E., legendary chef and restaurateur opened in July 2018. Celebrating a ‘new alliance’, the restaurant matches the very best of Scottish produce with classic French cooking.
