Going through unusual and challenging times with a positive approach, a creative mind and attitude.

A force of nature never ceases to be a force of nature. We congratulate Balbirnie House Hotel in Fife for the incredible result achieved last week.

On the 3rd January 2021, owner Nicholas Russell shared the news below on Facebook:

"A massive, Massive thanks to everyone who has visited our brand new Click'n'Collect Takeaway this week, our main driveway and front turning circle have never seen this before in 3 decades as a hotel! And incredibly so, in the first week of operation we are about to reach 1,000 orders, either collected in person at the front door, or delivered directly to your mobile dining rooms!

Such incredible community support has now enabled us to bring more colleagues back to work, there are now 18 of us working, across the span of Takeaway, wedding planning, accounts, and 24hrs security.

We had some unexpected technical issues yesterday, meaning that our system received many more orders than expected. Our sincere and personal apologies to those customers who had ordered, and did not receive their order on time. Today, we are re-contacting four sets of guests whose experience was compromised, refunding for yesterday, and of course, offering a repeat dining experience absolutely, with our compliments.

A huge and very special thank you to everyone who has carefully disposed of all leftover food and drinks packaging. It's an astonishing thing to confirm, but since opening we haven't seen a single piece of leftover litter on the 18 acres which we look after directly around the hotel, apart from in our own front door bins.

Moving ahead, next week we are going to add to our range of 12 inch Sourdough pizzas, with new toppings of Pepperoni, Meat Feast, Ham and Pineapple. We are also going to introduce 'the chicken burger equivalent' of The Royale with cheese. To be confirmed, but the following week we may be introducing our takes on Chilli con Carne, and posh hot dog 'street food'.

As we've been much busier than expected this week, we've also begun running out of numerous supplies (such as mini wooden forks, and wee packs of sugar!), so numerous of the brigade are out driving in central Scotland 9am Sunday, re-stocking for today's 12 noon start. Onwards we go!"

Members of the public posted comments asking for more vegetarian options, which were quickly incorporated in the menu.

Today, Balbirnie House posted on Facebook:

"Just to keep you in the loop, and because you awesome lot requested it! We now have an amazing Veggie/Vegan Burger. And a fantastic Gluten Free, Beef Burger."

We are clapping from the distance. Well done Balbirnie team.
