Motel One Glasgow will open early Summer 2018 on Oswald Street steps away from Glasgow Central Station.

The Hotel will have 374 bedrooms and it will be the first in Glasgow for the European budget designer brand Motel One.

The result of a £22 million investment, Motel One Glasgow combines high quality product design in a truly outstanding location just outside Glasgow Central Station.

As well as 374 rooms the hotel will boast a fantastic roof deck offering impressive views over Glasgow city centre. The hotel will be pet friendly, offer complimentary stays for children under the age of 12 years old staying in their parents room, a pillow menu and bed covers menu and plenty of personalised touches.

The design was inspired by rail technology with the special sense of adventure that accompanies a journey by train. Detailed artworks by Scottish photography duo Matthew Dalziel and Louise Scullion will found throughoutb the hotel as well as images showcasing the history of trains.

Spectre design suspended luminaires by Quasar will create a visual reference to high-voltage power cables, and guests will be able to read the timetable for the Central Station on an infoscreen mounted on a stone wall as well as experience an antique train compartment, where they can seat on comfortable quilted benches.

Shelves and tables will transport you to Glasgow’s industrial past with high-quality brass fittings, while Aldo Bernardi wall lamps will round off the design concept. The bar takes a more rustic approach: enjoy a view of Dalziel and Scullion’s amazing photography as you sit at the genuine wooden counter and channel the excitement of travelling by train.

Bob Gray, construction director, Ogilvie Construction, said: “We are delighted to have reached this key milestone and are working closely with Motel One to deliver their vision for a new hotel in the centre of Glasgow. Constructed to the highest standards, the building combines the use of high quality materials with our extensive experience and expertise in the hotel and leisure sector.”

The Glasgow project is Ogilvie’s second for Motel One after the company built the prestigious Motel One hotel building on Princes Street in Edinburgh, which opened in 2014.

Motel One operates 56 hotels across Europe with more than 15,165 rooms and has ambitious plans to expand their network to 74 hotels with 18,000 rooms.

Motel One Glasgow is taking bookings for stays from 1st of November 2018, rates for an overnight stay start at £69 per room.
