Radisson RED, set to open in Glasgow in April this year, will be the first RED hotel to open in the UK.

Stepping up the hospitality game in the city, with its fresh approach, the hotel has announced its leading line-up: Curator, Michael Weston; Lead Coach, Ashleigh McCormack; Lead creative, Frankie McGovern; Lead finance, Calum Weir; and Lead Sales, Emma Jackson.

Radisson-Red-Glasgow-Crew.jpgFirst and foremost, Curator of Radisson RED and the person that will be guiding the management of the hotel to create a unique guest and team experience is Michael Weston. Previously general manager at Radisson Blu Bristol, Michael has worked his way up through the ranks over the past 17 years, and has gone from housekeeper to ruling the roost.

On working with Radisson RED, Michael said: “I hate boring and love trying the new, wonderful, weird and whacky! I enjoy shaking things up, and that’s why I’m so excited to be bringing this awesome brand and amazing hotel and team to the fantastic city of Glasgow. We’re definitely going to be defying tradition and offering something different that compliments the already bustling Glasgow scene.”

Taking charge of HR at the hotel is Lead Coach, Ashleigh McCormack. Ashleigh comes from a background in hospitality and retail, and will be supporting the creatives at Radisson RED to grow both themselves and their careers.

“I don’t do beige”, says Ashleigh, “I’m all about coming up with new ideas on how we can do things differently. Radisson RED is something we’ve all been waiting for. It’s my job to look after the team here, and they’re a friendly, welcoming bunch who represent the best of what Glasgow has to offer. After all, it’s the people who make Glasgow!”

Frankie McGovern comes to Radisson RED as the Lead Creative for food and drink, managing the bars restaurants and meeting spaces in the hotel. Frankie joins the team from Kained Holdings, where he worked as an Area Manager.

Formerly a group operations manager for a hotel management company, Calum Weir has been appointed as Lead finance for Radisson RED, bringing his big personality and quirky Scotch/Afrikaans accent to the mix.

Emma Jackson will be responsible for putting heads in beds and bums on seats as Lead Sales for the hotel. Previously the National Sales Manager for Scotland at Carlson Rezidor, Emma joins the team with a wealth of experience and an abundance of enthusiasm to boot:

“I’m thrilled to be working with the first Radisson RED in the UK from the very beginning – it’s a great opportunity and even more exciting that it’s in my hometown. I love that the brand is inspired by music, fashion and art, because it gives us as a brand the opportunity to localise and embrace our destination. Glasgow is bursting at the seams with culture, so you couldn’t have picked a better city for it.”
